Up and At 'Em!

For everyone who has been patiently waiting for an update …

Juliana is doing fantastic. Surgery was yesterday afternoon. She was quite irritable last night and early this morning, but once the doctor removed the drain from her back she was much happier. Dr. Wolfe said that the infection site didn't look too bad on the inside. Her antibiotics have been changed today and plans are being made to go home tomorrow.

She is comfortable in her bed right now watching … Mary Poppins ! At least we have graduated from Dora. I don't think I could handle any more Dora.

Juliana is in the hospital right now. She has an infection in her back where the tissue expander is. She was scheduled for surgery on August 20, but will be having the surgery instead on this coming Monday (August 3). She is receiving IV antibiotics to try to contain the infection. It will not totally clear up until the expander is removed.

At this time she is at our local children’s hospital, but will be transferred on tomorrow (Sunday) to Miami. Please keep her in your prayers.

Kendra also came home from camp after only one day because she is sick. This was her first sleep-away camp, and she was so excited. She had only been packed for 3 weeks! I left Juliana at the hospital with Thom today and picked Kendra up and took her to the doctor—she has strep!
