Home Soon!
June 30, 2007 12:30 PM

As you know Juliana had her latest surgical procedure on Thursday, June 28. She's going to be wearing some "hardware" for a while. It's called the "RED System," for "Rigid External Distraction," and is a major part of Dr. Wolf's plan—a big step forward.

We've been apprehensive about this one, dreading it yet wanting it to be done. She came through the surgery well, like she always does. She's still a bit swollen, but she's progressing well. Her IV's have been removed: she doesn't need them!

Juliana's already getting back to "being herself," signing "silly" at her dad.

This is the report I just got from Tami as she was driving, on her way to her "shift" at the hospital. She and Thom take turns spending the night in the room with Juliana. She has never been left alone in a hospital room! Every time she wakes up one of them is there.

Tami said she will post an update as soon as she gets a chance. In the meantime, I wanted you all to know that Juliana is doing great.

FLASH!!! Even as I was typing the above the phone rang. It was Tami saying they'll be home earlier than expected! Maybe Tues. This is better than we expected! That's our girl!

Juliana's surgery went very well. She was in the recovery room by noon, and now is back in her room, awake and responsive. Tami says she has some swelling, and the new "hardware" is "intense" looking. That's all I know for now, but it's great to know the surgery is over with and that it went well. I'll let you know more as I get more info.
