Juggling Act September 14, 2007 11:00 PM
Here we are, right back into nonstop running again. We are halfway through the first quarter of school already. The girls are still doing well in their classes. Of course, Juliana’s favorite is music. When I picked her up yesterday, her nurse told me all about her marching around the music room with a drum. She said she looked like she was leading a parade.
Soccer is going on right now (as you can all see from the new pic). Don’t worry, Juliana is not really playing with the halo on. She is not on the team. They had an extra uniform, so they made sure that she felt part of the team. It is hard to keep her off of the field during the games, though.
T-ball will be starting in about a month, and then we will be going right from that to basketball. Kendra is such an athlete!
I am planning to start Juliana in dance as soon as the halo is removed, just one more thing to add to our schedule.
Thom is extremely busy with work right now, too, so we are doing the juggling act just as so many families do now. We are already beginning to look toward the next deployment. It is less than a year away. I don’t think life will settle down too much between now and then.
Last night was the first night of the ASL2 class that I am taking right now. I am hoping to begin some college classes in January.
Here is the update on the halo. Juliana will be having a CT scan done on Monday afternoon. But we will not be traveling to Miami for it this time. We are able to have the scan done here locally in Jacksonville and then we will send the disk to Dr. Wolfe. He will study it and let us know what his decision is as far as removing the halo and what other procedures may accompany that. I am sure that we are not nearly as eager to have it removed as Juliana is, but we are VERY READY!
I haven’t posed a good “Juliana story” in a while, so here goes …
Yesterday as we were getting homework finished and getting ready to leave for soccer practice Juliana decided she needed a water bottle. She chose the bottle that she wanted and then just perfectly wedged it into the water dispenser in the freezer door. She filled it up and then wasn’t sure what to do when it was full and water was still coming out. She let go and stepped back and water was just pouring onto the kitchen floor.
It is a good thing that I was right there to see it. I may have found her in her bathing suit having a good time. —Tami
