End of Summer August 04, 2006 10:53 AM
We are winding down the last few days of summer vacation. School begins on Monday, August 7. A nurse has finally been hired to be with Juliana at school. She came to the house yesterday to meet with us. She changed Juliana’s trach so that we would all feel comfortable knowing that she was able to do it. I think she is going to work well with Juliana.
She has just been doing typical 3 year old things lately. I was cooking supper one evening and she decided to help me out by filling the dog’s bowl with water. She tried so hard to fill the bowl in the bathroom sink and walk it back into the kitchen. Unfortunately she spilled most of it. She was so proud of herself though.
Her favorite things to do still involve being outside. We have been taking bike rides in the evenings lately. She rides in the buggy behind my bike and really loves it. The faster we can go the happier she is. She still loves to play on the swing set. The higher the swing goes the harder she laughs. I think I am seeing a pattern developing here. A daredevil in the making?
As I do this update there is a team from Lowes installing a new playground in our backyard. This was a dream granted to Juliana from the “Dreams Come True” foundation. The girls are both going to have a great time alone, together, or with all of their new friends from school.
To answer the question that I have been asked recently, Yes I did find one of her hearing aides(“ears” as we call them). The hearing aide fairy must have brought it because it was under my pillow. She has since started wearing a new set of “ears” though. We are trying out a newer better set and she seems to hear even more than before. —Tami
